The Pahang Indian Association (PIA) was officially established on 20 August 1939 with the objective of serving and representing the Indian community in the state of Pahang, Malaysia. Its foundation was inspired by the need to promote the social, educational, cultural, and economic welfare of Indians residing in Pahang.
In its early years, PIA focused on uniting the community and addressing issues related to education, employment, and social development. The association played a significant role in providing educational assistance, including scholarships and loans, to help students pursue higher education.
During the 1970s and 1980s, PIA expanded its activities to include cultural programs, sports events, and community welfare initiatives. The association also worked actively to raise funds for
the construction of its own premises, securing a permanent base to conduct its activities and serve its members more effectively.
Over the decades, PIA has continuously strived to uplift the Indian community in Pahang, preserving cultural heritage while promoting unity, progress, and inclusiveness. The association has also collaborated with government bodies and other organizations to further its objectives.
Today, PIA remains committed to its founding mission: to support the welfare and development of its members, promote education, and uphold the social and cultural values of the Indian community in Pahang.
